All Your Drainage Solutions

Backyard Drainage

Not only is a soggy backyard extremely annoying, but it can lead to health issues if water stagnates for weeks after a rain event. A few common backyard drainage problems that create issues in your yard are:

  • Poor soil quality - can lead to a flooded yard as the soil is often hard and compacted, preventing water from easily being absorbed
  • Land slope and pitch - water will pool in your garden or yard if there is no other diversion point
  • Downpipes - If the downpipes are too short, they can cause excess water to collect in the soil
  • Soil erosion - In areas prone to high rainfalls, runoff can strip the topsoil in the yard

Stormwater drainage

An effective stormwater system will manage the rainwater from your property well, even in heavy downpours. The guttering of your roof needs to direct the rainwater quickly off the roof and through downpipes. Once on the ground, the water must be able to get away from the buildings promptly via an efficient drainpipe system or soak into the surrounding surfaces. And the stormwater pipes should move the rainwater, unobstructed, to the street or council stormwater system.

French drains

Does water remain pooled up in your garden even if it's not raining? If your backyard is constantly wet, it’s time to take action. A French drain can help you get rid of excess water and improve the health and look of your yard. It’s an effective solution that will protect the foundation of your home from damage caused by groundwater or poor drainage. French drains protect your home and lawn by removing excess moisture from the soil.

Stormwater pits

Stormwater is the runoff from rainwater that flows on driveways, roads, and paved surfaces. This water can cause flooding and contaminate the drinking water. A poor stormwater drainage system can also cause other problems such as water damage to buildings

Sediment accumulation in waterways can cause clogging and kill aquatic life and increase costs for wastewater treatment The excess runoff flows to the stormwater pit where it is collected and stored, then discharged slowly through drainage pipes.

Blocked drains

Our plumbing team specialises in diagnosing and unblocking drains quickly, providing long-term drain repair solutions to ensure they don't clog up again and again. Causes of blocked drains can be caused by debris, foreign objects, and tree roots growing into the pipe system.

Pipe Relining

Sometimes drain blockages are completely out of your control. This can be due to tree roots growing into your pipes or collapsed or misaligned pipes due to ground movement. When these situations occur you don't want to have to dig up your entire yard, landscaping or building slab to carry out drain repairs. This is where no-dig pipe repairs using pipe relining come in. The ability to reline the inside of the pipe causing it to be up to 10 times stronger than it was before and up to a 50-year life warranty makes it a practical and durable solution to fix broken pipes under established infrastructure.

Plumbing inspections

A plumbing inspection can help you identify issues in your home or business plumbing and drainage system helping to prevent major problems. Whether you're looking for maintenance services or pre-purchase property inspections, getting a plumbing inspection can help you find issues with plumbing fixtures like pipes, drains, hot water systems, and more.

Entrance Strip Drain Installation Menai

Entrance Strip Drain Installation Menai

Solving Water Pooling and Flooding at a Menai Strata Property

Our drainage team were recently called to a Strata villa in Menai to investigate ongoing water pooling after heavy rains. The villa's front entrance had a set of steps leading down to the front door, creating a low point where surface and stormwater naturally collected.

Whenever it rained, water would flow down the steps and pool directly in the middle of the entryway. With no drainage system nearby and no path for the water to escape, the water built up against the door and entered underneath the threshold.

The Strata homeowners wanted a permanent drainage solution that would prevent further flooding while maintaining the appearance of the entrance.

Assessing the Drainage Problem

Several factors were contributing to the water pooling issue:

  • Water flowed directly down the entry steps during rainfall
  • The surrounding layout prevented water from dispersing left or right
  • No surface drainage system had been installed near the doorway
  • Water regularly pooled against the door threshold
  • Flooding was occurring inside the villa during heavy rain events

Without proper intervention, the recurring water pooling had the potential to damage flooring, door frames, and internal finishes.

Installing a Strip Drain at the Front Entrance

To redirect stormwater away from the villa, our team recommended installing a strip drain across the base of the steps. Our plumbers carefully cut through the existing tiles and concrete slabs beneath to create a channel for the new drainage system to sit in and ran a discharge pipe to the existing stormwater sump approximately 5 metres away.

A Seamless Drainage Solution

After the job was completed, the homeowner was very happy. The final product looked original with the existing build and it eliminated the water pooling problem quickly.

Drainage Subsoil, Stormwater and Sewer Reconstruction In Kyle Bay

Drainage Subsoil, Stormwater and Sewer Reconstruction In Kyle Bay

Drainage and Moisture Control in Kyle Bay

This customer in Kyle Bay called us about a chronically wet concrete slab along the side of their house. This was causing a significant mould problem inside their home and bedrooms as well as making their carpets wet. In addition to this, there were also some underlying issues with the existing stormwater and sewer systems, including blockages, poor pipework and tree root intrusion.

For this project, our team used excavation, drainage and moisture control techniques to protect this home's concrete slab and walls from long-term water damage.

Why Does This Happen?

This type of drainage issue is common in Sydney properties that are built on dense clay soils. Clay naturally holds onto water rather than letting it drain away. When combined with a poorly designed drainage system or old infrastructure, excess water becomes trapped in and around the building.

How We Diagnosed It

Our plumbers assessed the water flow, checked the performance of the drains and identified faults in the existing system.

On jobs like these, we typically use CCTV Drain Inspection techniques and testing to locate blockages, tree root intrusion and structural pipe issues.

Our Drainage Strategy

Our strategy was to install a subsoil and surface drain at the back and western side of the home to prevent further damage to the structural integrity of this Kyle Bay property.

This system was designed to:

  • Move water away from the foundation quickly
  • Allow the concrete slab and walls to breathe and stay dry
  • Prevent excess water damage and stagnation during heavy rain and storms
  • Separate the stormwater and subsoil drainage systems

Our Work

This drainage project in Kyle Bay included:

  • Excavating trenches and removing the dense clay soil
  • Installing a breathable drainage cell against the walls and slabs of the home to allow for airflow
  • Installing a subsoil drainage system (aggi drain, syphonic pipe system) and a dedicated PVC line for new surface drains
  • Backfilling the trenches with a mixture of sand and gravel for fast-acting drainage
  • Repairing stormwater and sewer issues, including root removal
  • Removed troublesome tree and replaced pavers with concrete paths to reduce water penetration

The Results

This new drainage system keeps this Kyle Bay home safe and dry, effectively draining away surface water while preventing future blockages from occurring.

Subsoil Drainage Job In Mosman

Subsoil Drainage Job In Mosman

Subfloor Drainage Solutions Mosman

The Challenge

Our Mosman customer was experiencing significant damp and moisture issues in the subfloor of their home. If not taken care of properly, this problem threatens the structural integrity and increases the risk of mould and mildew.

Our Solution

Using a Cat 301.8 excavator and our team's hard work, we excavated 20 tonnes of sand and dirt along the front and side passages of the rock layer.

Our specialised drainage installation included:

Subsoil Drainage System: Our plumbers combined the power of a Siphonic Belt with an agricultural (French drain) line and PVC pipework to ensure maximum water diversion.

Advanced Filtration: After we finished the agricultural line and other pipework, we installed 20 tonnes of coarse river sand around the drainage lines to allow superior flow and drainage.

Surface Protection: We integrated a strip drain against the house's perimeter to intercept surface runoff and stormwater protection.

After our team completed this job, we left the property clean and tidy. If you are experiencing a similar drainage problem, give our professional and dedicated team a call on 1300 520 898 or fill out our online booking form.
